A house in Bali

October 2011
Well we've done it. Leased a house for 40 years in Nyuh Kuning, one of the 17 villages in Ubud (the best one if you ask Janet and me). The house is 5 minutes into town, about 20 minutes to Green School (where the boys go), and is on a dead end lane on a dead end street. Nice and quiet... yet close to everything. The land is about 1/3 of an acre, with a nice view of the river valley between Nyuh Kuning and Singerkerta. But... the house needs some work. There are actually two houses - one with one-story and one with two-stories. We are planning the renovations now... hopefully will start soon. We won't live in the house until it's fixed up and ready (staying in nearby Peliatan for now).

Here's a slideshow of the house:

This blog will document the renovation of the house. Right now, the housing market in Ubud is crazy... and lots of people are buying land and building, or buying houses which need work and fixing them up. Hopefully others can learn from our process.
